"The Photographic History of The Civil War"

These are unique, and this is the only place where one may purchase these. There is a unique "tie-in" with "The World of Oz" and the eldest son of the authour of the most famous children's book in
American History, "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" which was published in 1900 and has never been out of print. The famous film with Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Margaret Hamilton, Jack Haley and Bert Lahr and Toto,
was based on this book. Here is a chance to own a very unique set of books.
There were Frank Joslyn Baum's personal copies, each signed. ("Wizard of Oz" related). Frank Joslyn Baum was the eldest son of L. Frank Baum and passed away in 1958 at the age of 74. He was a writer, lawyer, soldier, film producer and the first president of The International Wizard of Oz Club. Personally obtained many years ago from a member of the Baum family. A letter of authenticity regarding the books, signatures, accompanies this purchase.
The Photographic History of The Civil War was edited by Francis Trevelyan Miller and Robert Sampson Lanier.
The books are as follows: Volume 1 -The Opening Battles, Volume 2 -Two Grim Years of War, Volume 3 -The Decisive Battles, Volume 4 -The Cavalry, Volume 5 -Forts and Artillery, Volume 6 -The Navies, Volume 7 -Prisons and Hospitals, Volume 8 -Soldier and Secret Service, Volume 9 -Poetry and Eloquence of Blue and Gray, Volume 10 -Armies and Leaders. These ten volumes published in 1911 by The Review of Reviews in New York, are in good to very good condition, as you can judge by the photos and were the property of the son of L. Frank Baum. Each of the volumes has been signed in the upper left verso of the front free endpaper. I have photographed each signature in each volume. Volume nine has wear and fraying to both spine ends, volume two has wear and fraying to the spine bottom. All in all a good set. I took representative photos to give an idea of the interior content of these volumes. Further, about the books; the endpapers are blue with gold top edges. This is the first edition of this epic work and has thousands of scenes photographed from 1861-1865. It has has special text from about 39 knowledgeable people, Pres. Wm. Taft, and officers of both the Confederate and Union Armies. Some of the photos were previously unpublished were from private individuals. The last volume, number ten does not have the "2-Ed" (it has "1-Ed") in the bottom margin of page 323, which makes this volume ten a first issue volume ten. Just an absolutely incredible collection. A great "Oz" tie-in item. Rare in and of itself, especially the last volume. Additionally rare and a one of kind set, with all the signatures from the L. Frank Baum family in them.
